Here we come to our last Mod project in Canada: a designated Toronto Heritage Site with outdated basement geared elevator to be replaced.
The spaces were limited, the schedule was tight and the goal was clear: introduce state-of-the-art traction technology to enhance the system performance, while preserving the building’s architectural character and key system components.

For this 3-stop basement machine room application, Montanari North America supported UTE Elevator Inc. with:
- M105 Gearbox machine, a CSA certified high performing traction solution (1,000-pound capacity, 100 FPM speed, 1:1) with unique modular design. A Montanari technical trick that proved essential here, as it allowed to disassemble the machine and overcome basement space and access limitations
- efficient redesign approach to preserve the heritage character, building aesthetics and system features as both the elevator cabin and doors had to be retained
- targeted engineering strategy and technical consultation throughout the design, handling and installation phases to ensure efficient and smooth integration
