Today we run together into our latest elevator Mod project in Bronx, New York: our client LIFT ELEVATOR was facing a 6-stop MR basement elevator with difficult MR access and critical space constraints for a side-mounted machine with extended-shaft. Historical solutions in the U.S. market could not fit based on the interference created by external pedestal support design and based on machine size and length of extension required. Extensive redesign for historical solution redesign was cost prohibitive. Additionally, the building was served by a single elevator, putting significant pressure on the schedule and requiring a fast, efficient installation process.

This is when Montanari stepped in, providing its M105LS gearbox, the unique extended-shaft solution, CSA certified and available across North America. M105 is equipped with a Cantilevered External Sheave with internal movable support pedestal that perfectly adapt to tight and complex site conditions. All Montanari gearboxes are engineered with a modular design — an essential technical trick to disassemble the machine into smaller, lighter components for easy machine room access. The possibility to reassemble it just once in the room proved essential here.
